Dr. Ball is a member of the Institute of Medicine and sits on the Board of Regents of the National Library of Medicine. She also serves on a variety of boards in the area of health information technology, including Health On the Net (HON). In 2002, she received the Morris F. Collen Lifetime Achievement Award. Beverly Malone, R.N., CNS, Ph.D., FAAN, currently serves at the pleasure of the Royal College of Nurses in the United Kingdom as the General Secretary. A world-renowned nurse who served in the United States under the Clinton Administration and prior to that as the president of the American Nurses Association, Dr. Malone has demonstrated outstanding leadership in times of crisis and chaos. Dr. Malone's experience, research and scholarship give her a unique perspective to share at this conference through a presentation on leadership in a technological environment. Margaret McClure, R.N., Ph.D., is the president of the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. McClure is a research and nurse executive and, along with colleagues, developed the basis of magnet hospitals. Her work on magnet hospitals spans more than 20 years, including two books she’s written on the subject. Dr. McClure served as the chief nursing officer of New York University Hospital for more than 15 years. She also is a past president of the American Organisation of Nurse Executives.Denis J. Protti, B.Sc., M.Sc., FAMIA, Powerpoint view online Presentation is a professor at the University of Victoria School of Health Information Science. He is vice chair of the British Columbia Health Information Management Standards Council and is a member of the Systems Committee of the Board of the University Health Network in Toronto. Professor Protti was commissioned by the United Kingdom Treasury to review the proposed NHS information strategy (1998-2005) prior to its release. He developed the evaluation methodology that is being used to monitor the local implementation of the national health information strategy. Roy L. Simpson, R.N., CMAC, FNAP, FAAN, is vice president of nursing informatics for Cerner Corporation. He has more than 20 years of experience in nursing administration. Mr. Simpson was a pioneer in the development and funding of the Nursing Minimum Data Set (NMDS), and he is a prolific writer with more than 400 articles published. Today he is editorial columnist for CurtinCalls, Health Management Technologies, Nursing Management and Nursing Administration Quarterly. Charlotte Weaver, R.N., Ph.D., chief Powerpoint view online Presentationnursing officer, vice president patient care systems, joined Cerner in 1999. Dr. Weaver is responsible for all acute care solution development and for defining results-focused implementation strategies. Prior to Cerner, she built and directed a successful IT consulting business in Australia.
